Turns Out Lil Uzi Vert Is Signed To “Generation Now” NOT Signed to “Taylor Gang”

Lil Uzi Vert has come along way from being one of our artists to pay attention to in 2016. In the past 12 months, Lil Uzi has proven his rockstar status through two potent mixtapes—Lil Uzi Vert vs. the World, The Perfect Luv Tape—and collaborated with Gucci Mane on a joint project. His fans are literally chasing after him at his shows, which makes sense that he’s become the most-sought after commodity in the music industry.

Last week, Wiz Khalifa shared the news that Lil Uzi has signed with Taylor Gang, a move that would put him alongside Juicy J, Ty Dolla Sign, Chevy Woods, and more. But on Dec. 30, DJ Drama clarified the rumors that the Philadelphia rapper is only signed to Generation Now, a label co-founded by Don Cannon and Leighton Morrison, and in conjunction with Atlantic Records.

So what does this mean? Is Wiz bending the truth? Are Dram and Wiz not on the same page with Atlantic? Was Uzi a free agent the whole time?

DJ Drama’s team did not immediately respond to Complex’s request for comment. Until we get confirmation, we’ll just have to speculate what’s really going on with hip-hop’s hottest act.

Produced by Wheezy, Duke raps about coming from nothing and making a name for himself on “Billboard.” “Mama we made it to billboards/Thank the lord, I’ma keep praying for it/They told me stay focused, stay real boy/The streets playing dirty, get killed boy/This shit is for real boy, did all that shit with no deal boy/Niggas is fakin’, they gettin’ monopoly money/When I was broke they was just laughin’ at me like something was funny/Now I’m at three years on my dick/Ran that shit up, now we rich,” Lil Duke raps.
There isn’t a release date for Life in the Hills but it should be dropping soon.

Wiz Khalifa Settles Lawsuit With Former Manager

Wiz Khalifa and his former manager Benjy Grinberg have settled their lawsuits against each other. Wiz sued Grinberg and Rostrum Records last year in an attempt to get out of his 360 deal. Grinberg’s Rostrum Records countered by launching their own lawsuit against Wiz for unpaid fees from their existing deal. No details of the settlement have emerged, but both sides are happy enough to end their legal battle.
“This agreement includes the dismissal of lawsuits that each party had previously filed against each other earlier this year,” a statement to Billboard reads. “Both parties are pleased with the outcome and look forward to putting this matter behind them.”
Wiz’s representation previously argued that Grinberg pressured the rapper into signing a 360 deal with Rostrum Records. Alex Weingarten, the Taylor Gang founder’s lawyer, claimed that Grinberg was looking out for his own interests instead of what was best for Wiz’s career.
“An artist’s most trusted advisor is his or her personal manager,” Weingarten said. “Generally, nothing good comes out when the manager decides to go into business against his artist. Unfortunately, that is the case here.”
Grinberg expressed disappointment about the lawsuit before launching one of his own. In their countersuit, Grinberg and Rostrum said they were owed a 15% cut of Wiz’s touring and music royalties from a deal that was signed back in 2005.
“To witness an artist turn on you after supporting them for a number of years is very disheartening,” Grinberg said. “This is an egregious lawsuit filled with inaccuracies, yet unfortunately people sometimes resort to these practices as a way of conducting business.”

Now that everything’s been squared away, both sides can put an end to this chapter of their lives. Wiz might have some more turmoil to deal with though if he continues to pursue Lil Uzi Vert for a spot on the Taylor Gang roster.

Put the brakes on any rumors of Amber Rose and Wiz Khalifa getting back together. Today (Feb. 13), Rose denied that she and her ex-husband were an item again after they were seen kissing each other at a pre-Grammys gala.
“Please allow me an opportunity to introduce my situation,” she wrote on Instagram. “I’m super sad and I would like to let my supporters know what’s going on in my life… Wiz and I are family and we will be family for the rest of our lives for Sebastian. We’ve been through hell and back so a kiss on the lips for a photo and a night out of fun is not a big deal for either of us, we are in a great place but we are very much still divorced and not together.
“And to the Awesome person I got to spend 5 months with (Val) and I broke up due to our own personal reasons but we still care about each other tremendously and we love each other’s families even more,” she continued. “So please understand that we are all human and we have feelings too. Nobody got dumped and nothing we do over here is malicious its just how life works sometimes.”

Two days ago, Wiz’s mother posted a picture of Lala’s obituary pamphlet onto her Instagram and captioned it with a quote from Robert Harling’s book, Steel Magnolias. Her caption reads, “‘… there was no noise, no tremble, just peace. Oh God(dess), I realized as a woman how lucky I am.
